Stafford Farmers Market cancelled this Saturday due to high wind forecast

The Stafford Farmers and Artisans Market scheduled for this Saturday, 10 October, has been cancelled following Met Office forecasts of high winds across the region.

Stafford Borough Council confirmed the cancellation for the outdoor event in Market Square on safety grounds. While steady breezes can often be managed, sudden gusts present significant hazards for pop-up gazebos, displays, and temporary structures. In addition to physical safety concerns, commercial event insurance policies typically set strict wind speed thresholds, invalidating coverage once forecast gusts exceed certified operating limits.

The council’s outdoor farmers market is scheduled to return to Market Square next month on Saturday 14 November.

Indoor Craft and Makers Market goes ahead at Beaconside

While outdoor traders in the town centre have had to stand down for the weekend, shoppers looking to browse local stalls can still visit an indoor alternative running across town.

The Craft and Makers Market Stafford is taking place as planned on Saturday 10 October at the Beaconside Conference Centre. Because the entire market is staged indoors, the event is completely protected from the weekend weather forecast.

The event features more than 60 independent makers and traders showcasing handmade items, gifts, artisan crafts, and local goods.
