A 39-year-old man has been handed a six-year extended prison sentence after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a child in Stafford.
Simon David Evans, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Stafford Crown Court on Friday 18 September after being convicted of five sexual offences against a girl under the age of 13.
Police investigation follows report from family member
Staffordshire Police launched an investigation after a family member of the survivor contacted officers to report what had happened.
Evans was arrested shortly afterwards and questioned in police custody, where he denied the offences.
The case later went to court, where he was found guilty of one count of sexual assault of a girl under 13 and four counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching.
Alongside his six-year extended prison sentence, Evans was made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order lasting 15 years.
