October has officially arrived, and pumpkin patches across Stafford and the wider county are opening their gates for the 2026 autumn season. Whether you want to pull on your wellies and head into the fields with a wheelbarrow, carve your creations undercover, or meet farm animals along the way, there is no shortage of local options. Here is our guide to the best places to go pumpkin picking in Stafford and nearby over the coming weeks.

Lower Drayton Farm, Penkridge (Featured)

Situated just one mile from Junction 13 of the M6, Lower Drayton Farm is celebrating a decade of pumpkin growing with a completely revamped experience for 2026. Visitors can grab a wheelbarrow and explore an expansive field packed with pumpkins of all shapes, colours, and sizes straight from the patch where they grew. Alongside pumpkins, guests can also harvest fresh seasonal vegetables directly from the ground, including homegrown potatoes, carrots, beetroot, and parsnips to take home.

The 2026 setup includes an undercover carving barn so you can leave the mess behind, a no-wellies indoor picking area for those who want to skip the mud, a dedicated Pumpkin Village with seasonal games, and the Pumpkin Cafe serving hot food and open-fire s’mores. Special “Pumpkins in the Dark” torchlight sessions run on selected Friday evenings with live music and a licensed bar, while family-friendly Halloween activities take place daily throughout October half term.
