Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group has officially opened its new adult learning hub in the heart of Stafford town centre.

NSCG in Town is based at 41 Greengate Street, inside the former NatWest bank building, which had been vacant since June 2025. The building has undergone a £2.1 million redevelopment to create a dedicated centre for daytime adult learning in Stafford.

The project has been supported by funding from the Department for Education and brings Stafford-based adult learning provision together in one central location.

Adult courses brought together under one roof

The three-storey building includes seminar rooms, a modern IT suite, private tutorial spaces and offices for the college’s adult education team.

Courses moving into the new hub include maths, English, ESOL, essential digital skills and Access to Higher Education. NSCG says moving these courses away from its main Stafford College campus will also free up space there for increasing numbers of 16 to 18-year-old students.

Craig Hodgson, Principal and Chief Executive of NSCG, said the new centre forms part of the group’s long-term strategy to manage growth across different age groups.

He said the hub would provide a professional adult-only learning environment while also increasing capacity at the main campus for younger learners.

Official launch held in September

The official opening took place on Friday 4 September, with community partners, stakeholders and civic leaders invited to tour the new facility and hear more about the college’s plans for adult education in Stafford.

Leigh Ingham, MP for Stafford, Eccleshall and the villages, said the project would help more people access education while also bringing benefits to the town centre.

She said the hub could support local businesses, strengthen the high street and create more opportunities for people to learn and train in Stafford.

The new centre forms part of NSCG’s wider adult education offer, with more information about courses available through the college’s website.
